After a delay of more than three months, INS Kamorta, first corvette of its class, is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of August, 2012. The design includes many stealth features, including reductions in noise and vibration of the vessels.
It has got considerably larger displacement, almost double, than its predecessor Kora Class. Displacing around 2,500-3,000 tons and a length of around 110 metres, these vessels will have a very high percentage of Indian made equipment – either designed indigenously or built under license through technology transfer agreements.
